Q and A

1.Appointment

QCan I see a doctor without an appointment?
Sure. However, the patients with appointments would have the priority, so the wait time would be longer.
QCan I make an appointment on the day?
Yes. You can make an appointment over the phone. Although, since there is no available time after 7:00 pm on Monday to Saturday, and after 6:00 pm on Sunday and holidays, please visit us directly. Please note that you cannot make an appointment on the day depending on the examinations you have to take (prescription for glasses, glaucoma exams, strabismus exams, etc.)
QHow many months in advance can I make an appointment?
There is no absolute limit, so please feel free to contact us.

2.Health Insurance

QIs there anything I need to bring?
"Please make sure you have Japanese health insurance card which is valid. If you forget to bling the card or if it is invalid(Insurance cards have an expiration date.), you have to pay the full costs (we do not accept insurance from overseas). If you forget, bring the card by the end of the month and we will refund the difference.
For the prescription of eyeglasses; please bring your current glasses. If you do not, we may not be able to issue a prescription.
For glaucoma examination; if you have the result from medical check up, please bring it."
QMy insurance card number has not changed. Can I bring the copy?
Some of other information may have changed, so all patients are required to present their original insurance cards every month.
QCan I still see a doctor even if my insurance card is invalid?
If it is invalid, you will be charged 100%. Please submit the valid card within this month and we will refund the difference between the full co-payment amount and the amount covered by insurance.

"You need to remove your contact lenses before the examination. We would keep it until the consultation finishes (for contact lenses which cannot be worn once removed are exceptions). You may also not be able to wear contact lenses after the consultation depending on the diagnosis, so we recommend to come wearing the glasses.
Please be sure to bring the glasses too, if you will vist wearing contact lenses."
QCan I get a prescription for contact lenses at the clinic?
QHow long does it take, if it is the first time getting contact lenses prescribed?
You need practice for putting on and removing the contact lens in order to get a prescription, so it usually takes more than 1.5 hour. Please make an appointment in advance.

"We issue the prescription after the product and the power are decided, and get checked by the doctor.
After that, you need to learn and practice how to put in/remove contact lenses.

There is a contact lenses shop (J contact) next to our clinic. You can hand in the prescription and purchase the contact lenses on the spot if they have it in tock.

Do not touch your eye forcibly; you may damage the cornea and causes eye diseases. When you can not find the lens, stay calm and see an eye doctor.
QCan a contact lens get lost behind my eyeball?
It is impossible. The inner surface of the eyelids has a sac-like tissue called the "conjunctival sac" which folds back and becomes the outer covering of the white part of the eyeball, so it prevents foreign matters from going behind the eye. If you feel a foreign body sensation, it is because the lens dropped or got pinched between the eyelids and the eyeballs, so please consult us.
